Q: What Inspired LaTeasha to open a pediatric therapy practice in West Memphis, Arkansas?
A: "Therapeutic Focus was created in response to the community that I grew up, which was one that offered limited therapy services to children in need of occupational, physical and speech therapy services. As a child, I suffered from a speech impediment and required speech therapy services. Due to my unique disability, my family found it very difficult to find a local speech therapy provider that could assist me. After searching and being denied by the few therapy facilities located in my community, my parents were able to locate a recent college graduate who was a speech therapist willing to take on my case free of charge. Because my family sought after and provided me with early intervention therapy services, I was able to eventually master my speech impediment. After I graduated college and practiced as an Occupational Therapist for several years, the health disparity among the pediatric population and the scarce options of outpatient pediatric therapy services in the Crittenden County community persisted. Therefore, I was drawn to open a therapy clinic in my home town. After being admonished by multiple Crittenden County residents, I decided to take a leap of faith and provide contemporary, science driven therapy services to the my community."
